McLean's Hometown Marine Now a Dad

Update on Mohammed "Sam" Zaidan

McLean's hometown U.S. Marine Mohammed “Sam” Zaidan, stopped by Greenberry's Friday to share the newest chapter in his life.

He's now: A Dad.  A college graduate. A Marine reservist.  A job-seeker. He was in town for a job interview.

Edith Bendfeldt, the Godmother of Greenberry's, welcome him, as she always does with several huge hugs.

Sam, as he is called, served in the U.S. Marines for four years. First, in Iraq. Then six months in Helmand Province in Afghanistan. He served in Golf Company, Second Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment — “America’s Battalion.”

Sam graduated from Herndon High in 1997. In 2000, his family moved to a new address on Old Dominion Drive in McLean.

He and his family live in North Carolina. They will return to Northern Virginia as soon as he finds a job.

What a special Memorial Day present: seeing one of McLean's sons who put on a uniform and went out and defended this country.

On this Memorial Day remember, our hometown hero needs a job.

If you know of other McLean men and women serving in our armed forces, please let us know how they're doing, where they are. We worry about all of them.
