McLean Whiz Kids: Writing Awards, Dean's List

We write a lot about local politicians, Tysons Corner traffic tangles and other grown-up goings on about town, but we thought we'd pause a moment to highlight some of our younger neighbors.

These McLean kids - and young adults - caught our attention for their recent accomplishments. A round of applause for the group, please!

• The following local students were recognized in the Scholastic Writing Awards, a pretigious, nationwide writing competition: Elizabeth McCune, YouNa An, Jordan Goodson, Seon Kim, Sung jin Kim, Rishi Malhotra, Rebecca Oh, Francesca O'Hop and Madeline Reinsel.
• Samuel Erkiletian was named to the dean's list at Saint Joseph's University for the fall 2011 semester. Erkiletian is majoring in history.
• Richard Sherman was also named to the dean's list at Saint Joseph's University for the fall 2011 semester. Sherman is a business-undecided major.
• Hanna Sophia Longwell received the Dean's Award for acheiving a 3.30 or higher grade point average at Colgate University.
• Philip Deming Stoutn also received the Dean's Award at Colgate during the 2011 semester.
• Monica Mowery was named to the dean's list at Tufts University for the fall 2011 semester.
• Nora Mueller was also named to the dean's list at Tufts University for the fall 2011 semester.
• Bridget Brady qualified for the dean's list at DePaul University during the fall 2011 semester.
• Evin Gualberto also qualified for the dean's list at DePaul University during the fall 2011 semester.
