MCLEAN, VA — A 40-year-old Maryland man was fatally injured on Saturday morning when the car he was driving crashed into a tree off of Georgetown Pike in Great Falls, according to Fairfax County Police.

Officers from the McLean District Station responded around 6:54 a.m. after receiving a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 8600 block of Georgetown Pike, according to police.

Detectives with the Crash Reconstruction Unit determined that Ederson Lima Gislon was driving a 2024 BMW M8 westbound on Georgetown Pike when the car left the roadway and struck a tree. Lima Gislon was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. CRU detectives believe that speed was a factor in the crash.
