2 More Storms Likely To Bring Snow, Ice To VA
Two more rounds of winter weather — what AccuWeather calls a "parade of storms" — are expected over the weekend and into next week in VA.
VIRGINIA — A winter storm that dropped ice and freezing rain on Virginia is moving through the region, with rain expected to continue Thursday morning before wrapping up in the afternoon.
Forecasters say conditions will dry out Thursday night and remain dry through Friday, but several rounds of winter weather — what AccuWeather is calling a "parade of storms" — are expected over the weekend and into next week.
The National Weather Service said the next system will move in on Saturday afternoon into early Sunday with a mix of rain, snow, and freezing rain.

Meanwhile, another system is poised to move into the region next week, likely Tuesday or Wednesday. That system could have accumulating snow, The Weather Channel is forecasting, however specific details are forthcoming.
Thursday's storm caused icy road conditions for the morning commute throughout the DC region, with schools starting two hours later in Arlington, Loudoun and Fairfax counties.

The next round of winter weather, incoming over the weekend, is currently predicted to arrive Saturday evening, when there's a slight chance of snow after 4 p.m. Overnight, that snow could mix with freezing rain, before changing to all rain before dawn. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch are possible, The National Weather Service said.
"The storm this weekend is just the next in a series of storms that is part of the pattern change that began late last week," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Joe Lundberg said.
Snow chances return Monday night, with the odds of snow increasing on Tuesday.
Accumulating snow is possible during the storm next week, forecasters said. "From late Monday into Wednesday, a storm will originate in Texas and move to the mid-Atlantic coast, with a larger swath of snow and ice to the north of its path, and the potential of heavy rain and severe weather across the South into the Southeast," Lundberg warned.
