New 'Family Friendly' Thai Restaurant To Open In McLean In 2024

MCLEAN, VA — Sorn Thai, a restaurant owned by the team behind Donsak, a popular Thai eatery in Washington, D.C., is set to open in McLean in 2024.

The restaurant, located in the Chesterbrook Shopping Center at 6260 Old Dominion Drive, will showcase the rich flavors of southern Thailand. Featuring dishes like Pad Thai, Pad See Ew and others, Sorn Thai will offer affordable meals and have a "family-friendly appeal," according to its owners.

“With its central location, welcoming neighborhood and diverse residents, Chesterbrook is a community that truly has it all,” Supisa “Boom” Teawbut, owner of Sorn Thai, said in a statement.

Chesterbrook Shopping Center is owned by Federal Realty Investment Trust.

“Recognizing the limited presence of Thai restaurants in the area, we see this as an exciting opportunity to not only share our culture but also become a cherished part of such a vibrant community,” Teawbut said.

Federal Realty acquired Chesterbrook Shopping Center in 2021 after managing the property for almost 20 years. A property renovation began in September 2022. The façade renovation is scheduled to be finished by year-end, and amenity spaces in the shopping center are scheduled for a 2024 completion.
