No Medal For Women's Rowing Eight With McLean Olympian

Team USA's women's rowing eight failed to place among the medal winners in Saturday's finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

VAIRES-SUR-MARNE, FRANCE — Team USA's women's rowing eight, which includes McLean resident Claire Collins, failed to earn a medal during Saturday's finals in the Nautical Stadium-Flatwater event. The team finished fifth with a time of 6:00.73.

Romania secured a gold medal by posting a time of 5:54.39. Canada and Great Britain earned silver and bronze medals with times of 5:58:84 and 5:59.51, respectively.

On Monday, the American women failed to qualify for the finals during their initial heat, falling to eventual gold medalist Romania. However, they posted the fastest time (6:03:93) at Thursday's repechage, which put them in the finals. Canada and Australia also qualified during the repechage to compete on Saturday.

In addition to Collins, the women's eight rowing team includes Molly Bruggeman, Margaret Hedeman, Maddie Wanamaker, Regina Salmons, Meghan Musnicki, Olivia Coffey, Charlotte Buck, and Nina Castanga.
