How one controversial startup hopes to cool the planet (technologyreview.com) — A McLean–based consulting firm, Red Duke Strategies, is quietly helping an Israeli startup called Stardust Solutions build U.S. relationships around a controversial plan to cool the planet by reflecting sunlight with engineered particles. The company has raised $60 million and is courting governments worldwide, while scientists question both the safety of the technology and whether a for‑profit firm should influence decisions about the planet’s temperature.
   

4. Virginia church rallies behind Iranian-born sisters seized by immigration agents for deportation (episcopalnewsservice.org) — Members of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in McLean are rallying around two Iranian-born sisters from their congregation who were detained by federal immigration agents while traveling and now face deportation proceedings. The church community, along with the sisters’ attorney, is praying, organizing support, and seeking their release from a Florida detention facility while asylum claims are heard.
