86-Year-Old Woman Dies After Being Struck By Minivan In Crosswalk
An 86-year-old McLean woman was struck and killed by a minivan while crossing Kirby Road in a crosswalk, according to police.

MCLEAN, VA — An 86-year-old woman was struck and killed by a minivan Friday morning while crossing Kirby Road in a crosswalk, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
Brigitte Forster of McLean was within the crosswalk around 6 a.m. on Friday when the driver of a 2009 Toyota Sienna was turning left onto northbound Kirby Road from the parking lot of 1728 Kirby Road at the Vinson Hall Retirement Community.
The driver cut the turn short and then entered the southbound lanes, striking Forster in the crosswalk, police said Saturday.

Forster was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene of the crash, according to police.
Based on their preliminarily investigation, detectives do not believe speed or alcohol were factors in the fatal crash. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, police said.

The FCPD said Forster's death is the seventh pedestrian-related fatal crash in Fairfax County in 2023. Year-to-date, in 2022, there were 12 pedestrian-related fatal crashes.
