----McLean Day. About 15,000 neighbors and friends gathered May 21 for McLean Day. “The biggest McLean Day in the history of McLean in terms of the number of people served”. . . It was an extraordinary day," said David Sanders, chair of the McLean Community Center board.

---You Can Tell It's an Election Year. A covey of candidates flocked to the annual meeting of the McLean Citizens Association Thursday evening. The candidates included: State Sen. Janet Howell, who redistricted herself out of most of Mc Lean. Dranesville Supervisor John Foust. Barbara Favola,  former chairman of the Arlington County Board, who is running for the State Senate from the drastically changed 31st Senate District.

---McLean Community Foundation Grants. Pam Danner,  president of the McLean Community Foundation, told the annual meeting of the McLean Citizens Association Thursday evening, that the foundation had made grants to eight McLean organizations totalling $63,000. The foundation, created by the MCA, has now given away more than $1 million to community organizations, she said.

Danner is also running for the General Assembly from the 34th House District againt Republican incumbent Barbara Comstock.

---Wild Bill Donovan. There's a new biography of William Donovan, father of the CIA, that's getting  good notices from the New York Times and others.
