Small House Fire in McLean Temporarily Snarls Old Dominion Traffic

No Injuries

A small attic fire in a frame house at the southwest corner of Old Dominion Drive and Dolley Madison Blvd. in downtown McLean closed Old Dominion to southbound traffic for about 90 minutes Tuesday afternoon.

Fairfax County fire officials said there were no injuries. The two residents of the home reported the fire.

The cause is under investigation.

The fire was reported at 12:59 p.m. at 6941 Old Dominion Drive. It took firefighters about three minutes to extinguish it, said Battalion Chief Rodney Colbert.

One lane of southbound  traffic is now open on Old Dominion Drive. Both lanes will reopen before rushhour, officials said.
