Storms, Rain Replace Heat: VA Weekend Forecast
After a week of heat advisories, cooler weather returns to the Washington, DC area ahead of weekend showers. Here's the latest VA forecast.
VIRGINIA — After a week of dangerously hot weather and heat indexes making it feel like it was over 100 degrees, Thursday will be a bit of a reprieve for residents of the Washington, D.C. area, according to the National Weather Service.
Although thunderstorms are expected to develop on Friday and continue into next week, no hazardous weather is expected for Northern Virginia and the District.
Thursday's weather forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies and a high temperature of 89 degrees in Northern Virginia and the District, according to the weather service. This will continue into the evening, with a low of 66.

On Friday, showers and thunderstorms will create heavy rain over parts of the southern Mid-Atlantic, which could cause flash flooding in urban areas, roads, small steams and low-lying areas, according to NWS.
