Power outages on Thursday, Friday morning caused by underground equipment failure

Two separate power outages in Tysons Corner darkened local businesses on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, Dominion Power Virginia confirms.
The power outage at on Thursday afternoon affected 33 customers, mainly restaurants.
"We found underground equipment that had failed," Dominion spokeswoman Le-Ha Anderson said. "Restoration was delayed slightly because we could not access the equipment due to a fence that had been build around it. By midnight, we were able to restore power to all customers."

In a separate incident at 8 a.m. Friday, a power outage on Leesburg Pike affected customers in the Westwood building.
"Crews are on site now making repairs to an underground cable and we expect to have power restored by noon," Anderson said.
