Tysons Partnership Seeking New Leader

Michael Caplin will retire as president of the group after five years at the helm, once a successor is found.

McLEAN, VA -- After nearly five years at the helm of the Tysons Partnership, Michael Caplin will retire as its president, once his successor is named, the partnership recently announced.

Caplin is responsible for all aspects of operations, including membership, programs, communications, government and community relations.

His career experience includes service as a public defender, a federal prosecutor, performing arts counselor and producer, a program director at the Smithsonian Institution, and senior executive and advisor for array of nonprofit agencies working in the arts, education and social services. He is a member of the George Mason University Center for Social Entrepreneurship Global Advisory Board; the FONZ Board; and the U.S. Presidential Scholars Commission, appointed by the President in 2010.

"We will build on Michael’s creativity, passion, and leadership, and look forward to identifying a dynamic leader to continue the Partnership’s growing momentum and strategic success."

The Tysons Partnership was formed in early 2011 for the purpose of advancing and sustaining Tysons as Fairfax County’s "vibrant, economically successful and diverse urban core." The Partnership is the means by which all Tysons stakeholders can participate in making the collective vision of Tysons a reality, according to the group.

Membership in the partnership is open to organizational entities that are either located or own property in Tysons. These include landlords, developers, employers, retailers and hospitality service providers and resident associations.

In addition, Tysons Partnership has an associate membership category that allows non-voting participation by civic/homeowners associations located within a one-mile radius of Tysons and providers of professional consulting services relevant to the Partnership’s mission.
