Salmonella Risk Found in Virginia Dole Salad Bags
Recall underway. Check use-by dates and UPC codes.

Dole Food Co. has recalled 756 cases of bagged Seven Lettuces salads for potential salmonella risk.
The salads were distributed to 15 states, including Virginia, according to NPR. Dole is recalling bags with a use-by date of April 11, 2012, UPC code 71430 01057 and product codes 0577N089112A and 0577N089112B, according to NPR.
A sample of the Dole salad tested in New York came back positive for salmonella. Customers should dispose of the recalled salads.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people who are infected with salmonella develop diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps 12 to 72 hours after infection. The illness usually lasts four to seven days, and most people recover without treatment.

Five people from Virginia have been reported ill from a salmonella infection associated with tuna. The CDC said 116 people were infected from a frozen raw yellowfin tuna product known as Nakaochi Scrape.
