Water Main Break In McLean Leads To Loss Of Water Service

A water main broke early Friday morning on Kirby Road in McLean, leading to residents losing water service and traffic getting detoured.

MCLEAN, VA — A water main broke early Friday morning on Kirby Road in McLean, leading to residents losing water service and traffic getting detoured around the site of the rupture.

Both directions of Kirby Road between Sugarstone Court and Claiborne Drive were closed on Friday for Fairfax Water to conduct repairs on the water main and repair the road.

Shortly before 7 p.m. on Friday, crews completed repairs on the water main in the 1400 block of Kirby Road, restoring water service to affected customers, Fairfax Water said.

But drivers who do not live in the area were instructed Friday night to use alternate routes, as the closed-off section of Kirby Road remained under repair.
