Virginia Weather Forecast: Will Hurricane Matthew Impact Weekend Weather?
Here's a look at how the weather forecast is shaping up for the DC metro region for the weekend.

Will Hurricane Matthew impact the weekend weather in the D.C. metro area? Forecasters say that the area can expect showers beginning late Friday into Saturday, fed by tropical moisture from the hurricane off the Florida coast and a cold front, according to the Capital Weather Gang. In Florida, 1.5 million are under evacuation orders Thursday.
The National Weather Service breaks it down for the D.C. metro area:
- Friday: 40 percent chance of showers and patchy fog before 11 a.m., with a high of 73 degrees
- Friday night: Rain chances increase to 50 percent; expect a low of 61 degrees
- Saturday: 70 percent chance of showers, high of 68 degrees
- Saturday night: Slight chance, 20 percent, for showers; low around 54 degrees
- Sunday: Sunny, high near 66 degrees
The Weather Channel gives the area an 80 percent chance of rain Saturday for the D.C. metro area and notes Sunday could be partly cloudy; the Weather Channel predicts sunny skies for Columbus Day on Monday.

Meanwhile, the D.C. metro area is under a Coastal Flood Advisory Thursday morning until Friday at 3 a.m. Residents can expect 1 to 1.5 feet above normal tide around midday and midnight, according to the weather service. That's at about 12:29 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. in Alexandria. There could be flooding around low areas near the shore, forecasters warn.
