The National Weather Service cautions residents about gusty winds that could blow unsecured items and tree limbs.

WASHINGTON, DC — Much of the DC region is under a wind advisory Tuesday from the National Weather Service.

The wind advisory was issued from noon to midnight as forecasters expect 25 to 25 mph winds and gusts up to 50 mph. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects and take down tree limbs, potentially bringing a few power outages. Forecasters attributed strong winds to a strong low pressure system offshore.

The advisory applies to the District of Columbia as well as the Virginia areas of Frederick, Page, Warren, Clarke, Prince William, Manassas, Manassas Park, Fairfax, Arlington, Falls Church, Alexandria, Northern Fauquier, Highland, Loudoun, Northern Virginia Blue Ridge, and Central Virginia Blue Ridge.
