Dog Left in Vehicle Prompts Call to Animal Control in Mount Vernon Area
Animal Control officers were called to a parking lot for a dog left in a vehicle Monday afternoon in the Mount Vernon area.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Animal Control officers were called Monday afternoon to the Mount Vernon area for a dog left in a vehicle. Temperatures were about 90 degrees on Monday.
The incident took place Monday afternoon at a parking lot at Richmond Highway and Sacramento Drive (see map below), for a dog left in a vehicle, police said.
Due to the increased temperature inside of the vehicle, the dog was removed, transported to a local animal hospital, cleared medically, and then transported to the animal shelter, according to police.

A suspect has been identified but no arrest has been made. The investigation is ongoing and court case is pending.
