Pedestrian Robbed at Knifepoint Wednesday Near Mount Vernon Woods Park: Police

Police say the woman was walking Wednesday morning when a bearded suspect approached her from behind.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A woman was robbed at knifepoint Wednesday morning near Mount Vernon Woods Park, according to Fairfax County Police.

Police say the robbery took place Wednesday morning at about 10:15 a.m. at Fielding Street and San Leandro Place.

An investigation determined the victim, a 28-year-old woman, was walking outside when a man approached her from behind. The suspect was allegedly holding a knife, grabbed her, took her wallet and ran, police said. Police searched the area but did not locate the suspect.

The suspect was described as a black man between the ages of 30 and 35, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a beard. He wore a blue shirt, black shorts and white shoes.

The victim did not require medical attention, police said.
