Here are the top three stories today in Norfolk:
- Saturday marked a special day for a Norfolk icon: the USS Wisconsin's 78th birthday. The battleship, which was first commissioned on Apr. 16 back in 1944, served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Persian Gulf War. Over the weekend, veterans and their families headed to Nauticus to enjoy guided tours and renovated spaces on the docked vessel. (News 3 WTKR Norfolk)
- The Norfolk SPCA has taken in 42 puppies and three adult dogs from a South Carolina shelter. According to officials, the Marion County Animal shelter did not have the resources necessary to provide food and medical care for all 45 dogs. The Norfolk SPCA is currently seeking supplies and foster homes for the shelter's newest residents. A full list of accepted donation items, as well as information about fostering, can be found at the link. (WAVY.com)
- The Norfolk Police Department is seeking the public's help in finding a suspect in a fatal shooting last December. On Friday, police said they are looking for 50-year-old Tony Williams of Norfolk. Williams is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting on Denver Avenue on Dec. 26, 2021. Anyone with information about the suspect's whereabouts is asked to submit a tip via P3 tips or call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. (WAVY.com)
