🌱 Homebuyers In Virginia Feel The Squeeze + Pembroke Mall Era Ends

Here are the top three stories today in Norfolk:

1. Homebuyers in Norfolk and throughout Virginia are feeling the squeeze of home shortages, plus rising prices and mortgage rates. A recent report by the Virginia Realtors Association cited a low inventory trend that is down 22.3 percent. The report also noted an 8.9 percent increase in the cost of homes, just in the last year. 2. Demolition on parts of Pembroke Mall in Virginia Beach is scheduled to begin in September as part of a $200M redevelopment plan. Approximately 171,000 square feet of the building will come down, said Ramsay Smith, president of the Pembroke Realty Group. The mall, which is about 15 minutes outside of Norfolk, opened in March 1966. (13newsnow.com WVEC)
3. Three people were injured in a shooting last Friday night in the 900 block of Bagnall Road. A 14-year-old and a 17-year-old juvenile male sustained gunshot wounds to the leg, and an 18-year-old woman's face was grazed by a bullet. All of the victims were treated at local hospitals and are expected to be okay. (WTKR)
