Several University Students Injured In Norfolk Shooting

The Norfolk State University students are believed to have been innocent bystanders in the off-campus shooting.

NORFOLK, VA — Several Norfolk State University students were injured in a shooting off-campus around midnight Sunday, according to the university.

The university said the students are believed to be innocent bystanders of a shooting at an evening house party. Police said a call came in around midnight about the shooting in the 500 block of Killam Avenue.

At least seven people were taken to the hospital, with two of them having life-threatening injuries. The other five have non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

"The campus community is asked to keep the injured and their families in our thoughts and prayers," the university said in a statement posted to Instagram.

Police said there is no danger to the campus and counseling services are being provided to anyone affected.
