🌱 Shop N Go Shooting + Norfolk PD Chief Announces Retirement

Here are the top three stories in Norfolk today:

  1. Two men were injured during a Sunday evening shooting at the Shop N Go in the 700 block of East Virginia Beach Boulevard. Police arrived on the scene to find the two victims with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, and both were transported to the hospital. No further information has been released at this time.   2. After over 30 years of serving the community, Norfolk Police Chief Larry D. Boone has announced his retirement, effective on Apr. 29. Boone began his career with Norfolk PD in 1989 and became Chief of Police in 2016. According to a press release, Deputy City Manager Michael Goldsmith will serve as interim Chief as the city searches for a new one. (Press Release Desk)
  3. A weekend stabbing incident that occurred near Colonial Heights is currently being investigated. Police were called to the area at around 9:10 p.m. on Sunday for a report of gunshots. Upon arrival, police found man who had been stabbed, and officials say he is expected to recover. It is currently unclear what happened or where the gunshots may have come from. (13newsnow.com WVEC)

  • Norfolk police are looking for a missing man. In a press release, the department shared a photo of 40-year-old Brian Holycross, who has not been seen since Mar. 11. Holycross is said to have mental health issues, so police are urging the community to contact them with any information. (Press Release Desk)
  • Around 1,000 Norfolk residents from Kingston Avenue to Beaumont Street lost power yesterday morning due to a reported equipment failure. Dominion Energy was able to restore service within a couple of hours. (WAVY.com)
