April 11-17: Budget Mark-Up Includes Lower Tax Rate

Plan includes $3 million that could help implement full-day kindergarten

At this week's budget mark-up, the Supervisors approved a lower tax rate than originally proposed and $3 million in additional funds that could help the Fairfax County School Board implement full-day kindergarten. The supervisors will formally adopt the budget April 26.

In the two plans Supervisor Linda Smyth said were the most likely to pass, , leaving Oakton split between Sully and Providence.

Police will this week on the Fairfax County Parkway. Squad officers and Virginia State Troopers will be out in full force using marked and unmarked vehicles to pull over drivers going above the 50 mile-per-hour speed limit as part of the '50 Means 50' campaign.
