Football: Oakton Shuts Out Woodson

Cougars defeat Cavaliers 28-0 to remain undefeated

With its 28-0 victory over Woodson for its home-opener Friday, the Oakton High football team improved to a 3-0 record to start the season. 

Kyle Downer led the team with 152 yards rushing on 16 carries, including 64- and 54-yard touchdowns in the first half. He also passed for 108 yards, including a 9-yard pass to Bobby Kurtzman, who had 36 receiving yards, for a second-quarter touchdown. 

Kelly Brooks-Muse tallied 49 yards on three carries, and scored on a 37-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Brian Burns scored on each of the Cougars' four extra-point attempts.

Mike Wandey rushed for 62 yards on nine carries, while Andy Boone had two receptions for 41 yards.

The Cougars (3-0) will host Annandale (1-2) on Friday, during which money will be raised for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
