Oakton Couple Speaks Out on Pending Adoption Law

Daniel Gri and James Abbott, of Oakton, legally married each other and adopted two children while living in California.

Pending legislation before the General Assembly would allow state-funded, faith-based agencies to use their belief systems in determining who are suitable adoptive parents.

Gri and Abbott told The Washington Post the law, referred to as the "conscience clause," will prevent gay couples from adopting.

"It makes it seem like it’s not about sexual orientation," Gri told the Post. "That’s a technique anti-gay organizations use."
