More Early Voting Sites Opening In Alexandria For November Election

Alexandria will open three additional early voting sites for the election, which features local races along with the presidential election.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Three additional early voting locations are opening as the City of Alexandria gears up for the presidential race and other key elections this November.

The Nov. 5, 2024 election features the nationally-watched presidential election, along with races for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives 8th district, Alexandria mayor, members of the Alexandria City Council (six seats), and members of the Alexandria School Board (three seats in each of three districts).

Early in-person voting has been offered since Sept. 20 at the Alexandria Office of Voter Registrations and Elections (132 N Royal Street, #100, Alexandria, VA) and will continue through Nov. 2. Charles E. Beatley, Jr. Central Library (5005 Duke St., Alexandria, VA) opened another early voting site on Monday.

Remaining early voting hours at the Beatley library location are:

  • Tuesday, October 22, 1 p.m.-7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 23, 1 p.m.-7 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 24, 1 p.m.-7 p.m.
  • Friday, October 25, 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 26, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 27, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Monday, October 28, 1 p.m.-7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 29, 1 p.m.-7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 30, 1 p.m.-7 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 31, 1 p.m.-7 p.m.
  • Friday, November 1, 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 2, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

George Washington Middle School (1005 Mt. Vernon Ave., Alexandria, VA) and Minnie Howard Campus of Alexandria City High School (3775 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA)

  • Saturday, October 26, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 27, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 2, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

At the Alexandria Office of Voter Registration and Elections, early voting is offered 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Remaining extended hours include:

  • Tuesday, October 22, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 23, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 24, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 26, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 27, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Monday, Oct. 28, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct, 29, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 30, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 31, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 2, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

An acceptable form of ID is required to vote in person.

Here are the deadlines to know for the Nov. 5, 2024 general election:

  • Oct. 15: Deadline for voter registration, 5 p.m. in person or 11:59 p.m. online (same-day registration available through Election Day with provisional ballot)
  • Oct. 25: Deadline to request a mail-in ballot (application not required for in-person voting)
  • Nov. 2: Last day to vote early in person, by 5 p.m.
  • Nov. 5: Deadline to return mail-in ballot, postmarked by Nov. 5 or returned in person by 7 p.m.
  • Nov. 5: Election Day, polling places open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Residents can visit the Alexandria Office of Voter Registration and Elections website for more details on voting in the November election. Voters can check their registration status, assigned districts and polling location on the Virginia Department of Elections citizen portal.
