3 VA Freeways Top List Of 'America's Most Loathed Highways'

Which traffic-clogged Virginia freeways do drivers consider the worst in the country? A recent survey has the answer.

VIRGINIA — It's no surprise that three of Virginia's busiest, most congested freeways made the list of "America's Most Loathed Highways." The state has lengthy commutes, and crowded roads mixed with impatient drivers regularly lead to serious accidents.

The top three worst roads in the U.S. are all in California: U.S. Highway 101, particularly in the Los Angeles and San Francisco regions; Interstate 5, which runs from the U.S.-Mexico border in San Diego to the California-Oregon border, including a nightmare stretch through downtown Los Angeles; and Interstate 405, known as the San Diego Freeway, which in the Los Angeles area is "infamous for its gridlock."

Compiled by Gunther Volvo Cars Daytona Beach, the list ranks the top 100 most loathed roads to drive on across the country, based on a survey of 3,000 drivers.
