A Look at Recent Crime in Old Town Alexandria
Crimes reported from Feb. 1 through Feb. 11, including the theft of gift cards from the Boys and Girls Club, cars and copper pots
The following information was provided to www.crimereports.com by the Alexandria Police Department. The department also is reminding residents to make sure they don't leave a vehicle unattended while the engine is running.
Since January 1, six vehicles left unlocked, unattended and with the engine running have been stolen. Most of the vehicles were taken from apartment complex parking lots. A few were stolen while parked on the street. In all of the cases, the vehicles were left running by the driver, to warm up from the cold weather. Two of the six vehicles have been recovered.
The vehicles were taken from the following areas:
• 800 Block of Four Mile Road
• 5700 Block of Edsall Road
• 300 Block of S. Van Dorn Street
• 1600 Block of N. Quaker Lane
• 400 Block of N. Armistead Street
• 4300 Block of Duke Street

Feb. 11 – A theft from a vehicle was reported in the 900 block of Cameron St. around 12:44 p.m.

Feb. 11 – A theft from a vehicle was reported in the 1700 block of Cameron St. around 5:08 p.m.
Feb. 11 – A theft was reported in the 1200 block of King St. around 10:34 a.m.
Feb. 9 - A vehicle that was stolen from another jurisdiction showed up on the 1500 block of Princess St.
Feb. 9 – A stolen vehicle from another jurisdiction was recovered in the 1000 block of Madison St. around 4:52 p.m.
Feb. 7 – An assault occurred at 8:39 p.m. in the 1300 block of Prince St. between two or more people who knew each other.
Feb. 7 – A theft was reported in the 300 block of King St. around 10 a.m.

Feb. 6 – A coat was stolen from a restaurant at 2:12 a.m. in the 700 block of King St.
Feb. 5 – A man reported that his iPod was stolen from his coat pocket while it was hanging on a coat rack unattended at his workplace. The theft occurred in the 1 block of Cameron St. around 5:37 p.m.
Feb. 5 – A wallet was taken from a coat pocket while it was on a hanger at a restaurant around 11:33 p.m. in the 1600 block of King St.
Feb. 5 – An assault was reported in the 900 block of N. Henry St. around 1:07 a.m. between two or more people who knew each other.
Feb. 4 – Breaking and entering was reported in the 700 block of N. Fairfax St. at 9:54 a.m. A known subject reported to police that unknown subjects unsuccessfully tried to enter a building by tampering with a door and lock.
Feb. 4 – An office manager working in the 100 block of S. Pitt St. reported that a package delivered to a business was missing around 12:14 p.m.
Feb. 4 – A BlackBerry was reported stolen from an office around 6:22 p.m. in the 100 block of S. Union St.
Feb. 3 – A hotel employee notified police that the car window of a hotel guest ‘s vehicle was smashed while parked in the hotel parking garage. A Nintendo game console was stolen in the 800 block of N. St. Asaph St. around 9:15 a.m.
Feb. 3 – A vehicle was stolen from the 100 block of S. St. Asaph St. around 3:51 p.m.
Feb. 2 – Three copper pots were stolen from the front of a residence in the 200 block of N. Columbus St. at 9:24 p.m.
Feb. 2 – Someone reported that an unknown subject near his work truck was preparing to carry away a table saw. The subject dropped the saw and began to leave the area on foot. Nothing was taken from the truck and no damage was reported in the 200 block of S. Fairfax St. at 12:59 p.m.
Feb. 1 – A thief stole money from a cash drawer as a store attendant went into a storage area to retrieve merchandise in the 200 block of King St. at 2:23 p.m.
Feb. 1 – The regional manager of the Boys and Girls Club reported that a large amount of donated gift cards was stolen from the club’s inventory in the 400 block of N. Payne St. at 5:57 p.m.
Feb. 1 – A delivered package containing clothing was stolen from a doorstep in the 500 block of N. Patrick St. at 10:20 a.m.
