Abduction Attempt Thwarted By Victim In Alexandria, Police Patrols Boosted

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria Police continue to investigate an attempted abduction of a female victim Tuesday night.

Officers responded to Holmes Run Dog Park within Tarleton Park around 6 p.m. Tuesday. Police say the suspect tried to pull the victim into a wooded area, but she was able to escape.

The suspect, who fled, was described as a white male with brown hair, blue sweatshirt and camouflage shorts. A search with a K-9 unit, helicopter and perimeter set by police did not locate the suspect.

Detectives are re-canvassing the neighborhood, including businesses and warehouses on Wheeler Avenue and S. Gordon Street for evidence. Patrols have been increased in the area.

Police are asking nearby residents with surveillance footage to contact police. Anyone who sees suspicious activity can call the policy non-emergency number at 703-746-4444.
