Wednesday: After Fatal Shooting, Alexandria Police to Hold Community Meeting

A man was shot early Saturday and later died at an area hospital in Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- The Alexandria Police Department will be holding a community meeting at Charles Houston Recreation Center on Wednesday, July 6, at 6:30 p.m. to address community concerns regarding Saturday's early morning shooting death, they announced Saturday afternoon.

The center is located at 901 Wythe St. in Alexandria (see map below).

Saquan Hall, 23, of Alexandria was shot early Saturday in the 1000 block of First Street; he later died at the hospital, police said.

A resident who lives near the scene said he heard "maybe ten shots in small groups" that woke him up at about 3:30 a.m. The area where the shooting took place was in the vicinity of a community walk held by Alexandria Police Thursday night.

The location is fairly close to where a fatal shooting took place, in the 1000 block of Montgomery Street, in the middle of the day on Wednesday, June 8.

Police ask that anyone join them, to discuss Saturday's incident and further communication between the police department and the community.
