Alexandria 2025 General Election Voter Guide: Candidates, How To Vote
Alexandria voters will cast ballots Nov. 4 in local races, as well as governor and attorney general. Here's what voters need to know.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — On Tuesday, voters in the City of Alexandria will cast their ballots in the November general election for state and local races. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. across Virginia on Tuesday.
All City of Alexandria voters will have Virginia governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general as well as a Virginia House of Delegates seat, Alexandria sheriff and Alexandria commonwealth's attorney on the ballot.
In the governor's race, Democrat Abigail Spanberger and Republican Winsome Earle-Sears are running. Democrat Ghazala Hashmi and Republican John Reid are running for lieutenant governor, and Democrat Jay Jones and Republican incumbent Jason Miyares are running for attorney general.

Democratic Dels. Alfonso Lopez, Charniele Herring and Elizabeth Bennett-Parker are unopposed in the 3rd, 4th and 5th House of Delegates Districts, respectively. Sheriff Sean Casey and Commonwealth's Attorney Bryan Porter are also running unopposed.

The deadline for voter registration or updating your information was Oct. 24. However, same-day registration available in Virginia beyond the registration deadline allows voters to cast a provisional ballot. Check your registration status through the Virginia Department of Elections citizen portal.
To vote on Election Day, head to your assigned polling place between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Use the Virginia Department of Elections citizen portal to find your polling place or see the city's map of precincts. An acceptable form of ID is required to vote in person.
The Alexandria Office of Voter Registration and Elections says seniors and people with disabilities can vote curbside by calling 703-746-4050 ahead of their visit or upon arrival to the polling place. Election workers will assist at the polling place.
Some voters already cast ballots through early voting or mail-in ballots. Early in-person voting ran through Nov. 1. The deadline to return a mail ballot is 7 p.m. on Nov. 4. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 4 and received by noon on the Friday following the election. Completed ballots can be returned by mail, at a 24/7 drop box outside the Office of Voter Registration and Elections (132 North Royal St., Suite 100) or at any polling place on Election Day from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
