Auction of Political Memorabilia Saturday in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- In keeping with its tradition during presidential election years, The Potomack Company, an Alexandria auction house, will hold an auction Saturday featuring political, presidential and historical items. The auction will feature items from the homes of President John F. Kennedy as well as autographs from various presidents.

Some of the items include:

• A chandelier from President John F. Kennedy's Georgetown home at 3307 N St. NW. The chandelier was known as Jackie Kennedy's "sweet little chandelier," which she purchased at a flea market in Paris, Potomack Company owner Elizabeth Wainstein recently told The Current, a Washington, D.C. newspaper. Kennedy lived in the home when he was elected president and the family lived there when John Kennedy Jr. was born.

Also up for sale:

• Letters from Jackie Kennedy
• The deed to the N Street home signed by the Kennedys
• Garden fountain from Kennedy N Street home
• Wall sconces from the home, seen in photos after Kennedy was elected president
• Furnishings and art from Glen Ora, the Kennedy's getaway in Middleburg
• Monumental Indian Agra Wool Rug, Historic Edmund Jennings Lee House, Alexandria
• A presidential autograph album, with 31 signatures of U.S. presidents, from George Washington to Franklin D. Roosevelt

The auction is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. The Potomack Company is located at 1120 N. Fairfax St. in Alexandria:
