Alexandria Police Arrest Five Drivers During Cinco de Mayo Crackdown

Alexandria police stopped 101 vehicles and arrested five drivers roaming DWI effort designed to deter drunk driving and apprehend intoxicated drivers.

The enforcement effort was conducted from 8 p.m. on Saturday to 6 a.m. on Sunday. Police stopped vehicles they observed committing traffic infractions and checked drivers to assure that alcohol or drugs had not impaired their abilities to drive.

Arrests included possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and one felony warrant arrest. Ninety tickets were issued for various infractions.

Thirteen Alexandria police officers, one sheriff’s deputy and one emergency communications technician participated in the mobile enforcement effort.
