Alexandria Public Schools Adjust Schedule On Jan. 7
Alexandria City Public Schools will have a second day of schedule changes from the winter storm.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — Students' winter break just got extended once again due to the winter storm.
Alexandria City Public Schools announced it will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 7. That applies to schools, administrative offices and activities on school campuses. It will be treated as a traditional snow day and not have virtual learning.
Essential personnel will report to work if safe to do so, including building engineers, custodians, maintenance shop employees and security staff. Those employees should contact their supervisor for instructions.

Families can check with their community service providers for any schedule changes. Schools will contact families about new event dates.
The National Weather Service says total snow accumulations will be between 6 and 10 inches, although isolated areas could get up to 12 inches. Traces of ice are also possible. Snow totals collected by National Weather Service trained spotters ranged from 4.4 inches to 7.2 inches in Alexandria.

The region remains under a winter storm warning until 1 a.m. Tuesday. Snowfall will end Monday night, but road conditions may continue to be hazardous as freezing temperatures linger and snow removal continues.
