Alexandria Public Schools Adjust Schedule For Weather On Feb. 11

With Alexandria and the rest of the region under a winter storm warning, the school day will be adjusted on Feb. 11.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria City Public Schools will see an adjusted school day on Feb. 11 due to the approaching winter storm.

ACPS will run on a half-day closure due to the timing of the winter storm starting in the afternoon. Elementary & K-8 Schools will dismiss at 11:35 a.m., middle schools will dismiss at 12:15 p.m., and Alexandria City High School will dismiss at 12:25 p.m.

Preschool - Virginia Preschool Initiative will dismiss at 11:35 a.m., and there will be no p.m. Virginia Preschool Initiative. Morning Early Childhood Special Education will dismiss at 11:35 a.m., and there will be no afternoon Early Childhood Special Education. Pre-K Autism will dismiss at 11:35 a.m.

Non-essential and essential ACPS personnel should remain at their work location until released from their supervisor.

Breakfast and lunch will be served to students. ACPS-sponsored after-school activities, field trips and athletic events are canceled. Updates on activities from the Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will be shared on the City of Alexandria’s RPCA website.

ACPS said it will continue to monitor the weather and inform families of changes.

Alexandria and the rest of the region are under a winter storm warning from 1 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service said. Forecasters are calling for 4 to 8 inches of snow.
