'Breaking So Many Hearts': Fundraiser Launched After Alexandria Man Killed In Shooting
A man who would have turned 20 died in an Alexandria shooting, leading to a fundraiser for funeral expenses.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A fundraiser has been organized in the aftermath of an Alexandria man's death in a shooting.
Alexandria Police identified Deaundre Jack, 19, of Alexandria, as the victim of an April 19 shooting at 22 Canterbury Square. Police had found the victim with gunshot wounds on the ground of a parking lot. Officers attempted life-saving measures until the Alexandria Fire Department arrived, but the man died of his injuries.
Aimee Appell, a longtime friend of the victim's parent and stepparent, organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to help with funeral expenses. The fundraiser noted Deaundre Jack, whose nickname was Dre, would have turned 20.

"Dre’s family needs help to give him a proper funeral," the fundraiser stated. "If you can help in any way, please do. In any case, please keep Dre’s family in prayer, especially his stepbrother and best buddy."
Funeral arrangements have not been set, but the estimated date shared on the fundraiser was May 24. The fundraiser surpassed its initial goal of $5,000.
