Alexandria Woman Pleads Guilty To Hitting Officer With Car On Fort Belvoir
Prosecutors say the woman struck a security officer with her car after leaving a Fort Belvoir exchance with stolen items.

FORT BELVOIR, VA — An Alexandria woman pleaded guilty Wednesday in connection with hitting a retail security officer with her vehicle on Fort Belvoir.
Court documents indicate Alexis Amani Smith, 28, was attempting to steal several items at the AAFES Main Exchange at Fort Belvoir on Dec. 29, 2022. Smith walked past the point of purchase with five items totaling $342.99 without paying.
After Smith left, a loss prevention officer confronted her and questioned her about the apparent theft. That led to a verbal altercation, and Smith left the stolen items on the floor and left the Exchange in her vehicle.

The officer followed Smith to the parking lot to get her vehicle license plate number. As the officer was standing in front of the car, prosecutors say Smith accelerated the vehicle. As the officer's knees and shins were hit, the officer put her hands on the vehicle's hood and told Smith to stop. Smith accelerated the vehicle again, sending the officer onto another vehicle and onto the pavement.
Smith continued to drive away and left the Main Exchange. The victim had injuries to her knees, her forearm, and her shoulder from the crash.
