Beauregard Group to Recommend 'Open Space' Purchase

Three sites are currently under consideration by the group, which is evaluating their purchase with $1.5 million from the Defense Department.

Plans are underway for in the city's West End.

The first task of the Beauregard Rezoning Advisory Group, which held its first meeting July 16, is to evaluate options for open space to purchase with the $1.5 million in BRAC-133/Department of Defense funding set aside for that purpose. 

Three potential open space locations are currently being evaluated:

  • The site of the future town center in the Beauregard Plan area
  • Property located at Foster Avenue and Fairbanks Avenue
  • Property located at Polk Avenue and Pelham Street


The city is seeking additional nominations of sites for open space in the West End (properties west of Quaker Lane) through Aug. 6, pursuant to an agreement with U.S. Defense Department. All nominations received by Aug. 6 will be reviewed by the advisory group at its August meeting.
