Big Greek Cafe In Alexandria First Of Virginia Locations To Open
Big Greek Cafe is now serving up its famous gyros and other Greek fare in the first of its converted SouvlakiBar locations.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — There's a new Greek restaurant in town that brands its food as "just like yia yia used to make."
The Big Greek Cafe, a favorite for Greek food in the Maryland suburbs, is making its introduction in Northern Virginia. The locally-based restaurant is opening in four former locations of SouvlakiBar — in Alexandria, Oakton, Sterling and Leesburg.
The Alexandria location at 2732 Richmond Highway is now open, the restaurant announced. The online ordering function is active for the location.

SouvlakiBar had announced in December that its four Northern Virginia locations would close after Dec. 21, 2024. The Alexandria location had been around since 2016, followed by the Sterling and Leesburg locations in 2018 and the Oakton location in 2021.
Big Greek Cafe's menu includes Greek specialties like gyros, falafel, spanakopita, souvlaki pita, moussaka, bowls and more. Its famous gyro pita is offered for $7 on Wednesdays.

The three other Big Greek Cafe locations are listed as "coming soon." Opening dates have not been announced.
