Bob Wood to Run for City Council
Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. John R. "Bob" Wood, an anti-terrorism expert and Alexandria resident, announces bid for City Council.

Bob Wood intends to officially announce his Republican candidacy for Alexandria City Council at a Thursday morning news conference.
Wood is managing partner of Star Strategies Group, a consulting firm in Old Town, and a former member of the Alexandria . He also has been an active participant of Citizens for an Alternative Alexandria Waterfront Plan, which opposes much of the city's plan to redevelop its riverside area.
Wood served as the U.S. Army's strategic planner in developing and implementing the Army's response for combating terrorism after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States.
