City Offers Schedule of Closures for Cleaning Its Recreation Facilities

The city annually temporarily closes some facilities for cleaning and maintenance.

Alexandria's Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities annually closes recreation facilities for cleaning and maintenance. The facilities listed below will be closed during normal operating hours:

  • Charles Barrett Recreation Center - Friday, August 26, 6 pm
  • Charles Houston Recreation Center - open, but a rolling closure of rooms for maintenance from Monday, August 29 – Sunday, September 4
  • Chinquapin Park Recreation Center – Monday, September 5 at 3 p.m. through Sunday, September 18
  • Cora Kelly Recreation Center - Monday, August 29 – Monday, September 5
  • Durant Arts Center – Open as scheduled. Multi-purpose room closed Tuesday, September 6 - Sunday, September 11 due to floor repair.
  • Jerome "Buddie" Ford Nature Center – Open as scheduled
  • Lee Center – Open as scheduled.
  • Mount Vernon Recreation Center – Wednesday, August 31 – Monday, September 5
  • Nannie J Lee Recreation Center – Friday, September 2, 6 pm
  • Patrick Henry Recreation Center – Monday, August 29 – Monday, September 5
  • William Ramsay Recreation Center - Monday, August 22 - Friday, August 26
