ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Donald Trump, the billionaire businessman who is the frontrunner in the Republican race for the White House, has opened a campaign strategy office in the Washington Square office building in Alexandria, The Washington Post reports Monday.

Trump's new office, located at 675 N. Washington St., will come in handy for coffee runs -- it's also home to a Starbucks, as well as a Trader Joe's and FedEx.
Another Republican in the race, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who Trump dubbed "1 for 41" at a rally Monday in Rhode Island for winning one primary out of 41, also has an office in Alexandria, at 1605 King St., home to the National Stone Sand and Gravel Association and near the Uptowner Cafe.

Most people wouldn't describe Alexandria as a hotbed of Republican presidential politics, with President Obama getting 71 percent of the votes in the City in 2012. Not to mention the City is home to a Democratic City Council, Mayor, state lawmakers and home to Democrats U.S. Rep Don Beyer and Sen. Mark Warner.
With friend Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, Democratic presidential front runner Hillary Clinton held a campaign rally in October in Alexandria's Market Square, fresh off an 11-hour grilling by Republicans. The hearing was about her role as Secretary of State after the attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi in 2012 that left four dead, including the ambassador.
Former President Bill Clinton also made a stop in Alexandria to talk up his wife's candidacy, before the March 1 primary.
Alexandria's popularity among political strategists both Democrat and Republican is due to its proximity to DC and the neighborhoods that strategists call home, and maybe most importantly its cheaper leases compared to DC, The Los Angeles Times pointed out several years ago in an article with the headline "Alexandria, Va. hosts a quiet hub of Republican power."
"We used to always joke that if they wanted to wipe out the Republican Party, all they had to do was [destroy] Old Town," GOP ad maker Jim Innocenzi, whose office is located in Alexandria, told the newspaper.
Also in Alexandria and figuring in presidential politics this year: Conservative CRC Public Relations, described recently by the Wall Street Journal as a firm that is working against Trump. The firm "helped editors at the National Review round up authors for their sweeping takedown of the New York billionaire, and then worked with the publication to promote its 'Against Trump' edition back in January," the publication reported last month.
