Energy-Efficiency Housing Assessments Available to Alexandrians

City launches the Northern Virginia Home Performance with Energy Star to help assess and upgrade homes to be more energy efficient.

Alexandria has launched the Northern Virginia Home Performance with Energy Star program to help Alexandrians improve energy efficiency in their homes.

The nonprofit group Local Energy Alliance Program and CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union have partnered to offer the program to Alexandria residents.

LEAP administers the program and will provide free home energy assessments, recommend home energy upgrades to maximize the impact on energy use and refer homeowners to participating contractors.

The credit union will offer eligible Alexandria homeowners access to loans of up to $20,000 at a rate of 4.9% APR through the Alexandria Energy Saver Loan program. The city supports the creation of the Energy Saver Loan program through funding from federal and local sources.
