Fire damage is estimated at $300,000, according to Alexandria Fire Department spokesman Robert Rodriguez.
Fire investigators determined the fire started after lighting struck an exterior chimney igniting additional building components as it traveled through an interior wall space from the attic to the lower floors of the home.
