Fireworks Are Banned in City of Alexandria
Got fireworks? That could mean a fine of up to $2,500 or up to a year in jail.

With the July 4 holiday fast approaching, Alexandrians should note that fireworks are banned in the city.
It’s against the law for anyone to store, offer or expose for sale, sell at retail or explode any fireworks—including sparklers—within city limits.
Any offenses are considered Class One misdemeanors and are punishable by fines up to $2,500 and up to a year in prison.

The risk of fireworks injury is highest for children ages 5 to 14 years and sparklers and novelty fireworks accounted for 43 percent of emergency room fireworks injuries in 2010, according to the Alexandria Fire Department.
