Flood Threat in Old Town Alexandria Continues Into Early Sunday: National Weather Service
The weather service notes that flooding could persist near the waterfront through the weekend.
ALEXANDRIA, VA -- A flood threat still exists for Alexandria, with the National Weather Service issuing a Coastal Flood Advisory Friday afternoon. The Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until midnight Saturday night. The weather service warns that tides are about 1.5 to 2 feet above normal.
Coastal flood issues could persist into Sunday, the weather service warns. Water is expected to reach the intersection of King and Union streets within a couple hours of high tide, the weather service stated. High tide is 9 p.m. and 9:21 a.m.

- Friday night: Showers likely, mainly between 8pm and 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 64. Northeast wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
- Saturday: A chance of showers before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. Northeast wind around 7 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Saturday Night: A slight chance of showers between 8pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
- Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77. Light and variable wind.
- Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 62.
