City Offers Free Prescription Drug Discount Cards
The initiative stems from a partnership between the National League of Cities and Alexandria.

The City of Alexandria has allied with the National League of Cities to offer free prescription drug discount cards to residents seeking some relief from expensive prescription medications.
The CVS/Caremark cards can provide an average of 23 percent savings off the retail price of prescription medications, according to the National League of Cities.
The NLC Prescription Discount Card can be used by all Alexandria residents with no restrictions based on a resident's age, income level or existing health coverage. The card can be used at many pharmacies around the city, as well as at more than 60,000 participating retail pharmacies across the country.
The card was designed to help residents who are uninsured as well as those who have insurance but require specific medications that are not covered by their insurance plans.
Residents can obtain a free NLC Prescription Discount Card by printing them via the Internet or picking one up at the city's Department of Community and Human Services, City Hall, city libraries and other city agencies. Residents can use the website www.caremark.com/nlc to locate the nearest participating pharmacy or call 888-620-1749 for assistance.
