Hottest Temperatures of 2016: Virginia Weather Forecast This Week

Some areas could see "feels like" temperatures hit over 100 degrees at times this week, forecasters say.

The first extended bit of hot and humid weather to hit Northern Virginia is going to steam up even more this week across the region, according to weather forecasters.

"An official heat wave is likely to occur along the I-95 corridor from Washington, D.C. to Philadelphia," writes AccuWeather meteorologist Brett Rathbun. "This will be the hottest weather so far this year."

Temperatures could be especially grueling for DC metro commuters who are waiting for Metro trains and buses where Metro SafeTrack work is going on this week.
