Letter to the Editor: Incumbents Have Not Served the City Well
Rosemont resident Katy Cannady says the PAC Alexandrians for a Livable City has wisely endorsed five candidates, none of whom currently hold council office.

To the Editor:
The first Democratic Primary for City Council candidates in living memory will draw many more voters to the polls on June 12 than the party caucus that chose Democratic candidates in the past.
The opportunity to run in a primary has also attracted a herd of candidates, 14 in all. We also have three different political action committees (PACs).

The one I help to lead, Alexandrians for a Livable City, believes that decisions made by the incumbent Council members and also those who served on the previous Council have not served our city well. We have endorsed five candidates, Victoria Menjivar, Sammie Moshenberg, Arthur Peabody, Allison Silberberg and Boyd Walker. We did not bestow a sixth endorsement because only these five met our standards for endorsement based on their positions on important issues.
If we gathered our candidates for a group photograph, they would look diverse in numerous ways. However, we believe that if every one of them wins, they would to work together to chart a new course for the city. We think that is what Alexandrians want and need.
